Procedures

Just to give you an idea of what to expect when you apply for one of our pups.

Step #1 - Apply for a dog via the application form

Step #2 - One of our volunteers will reach out to set up a good time for a phone conversation with you.

Step #3 - A volunteers will be in contact with you to do a phone interview. We want to make sure the dog you applied for is right for you and that you have a full understanding of what it will take to be a good home for that dog. This is also a great chance for you to ask any questions you might have.

Step #4 - The application will then be passed on to the foster home for their consideration. As they know the dog best, they are the best people to ask about the suitability of their dog for your family. If they agree that you would be consideration they will reach out to you to set up a home visit with their foster pup in your home. The entire family must be present at this meeting including any other pets you have.

Step #5 - The foster home will let the rescue know whether they would like to proceed with an adoption if you are still interested after that meeting. If not then the rescue will notify you that the dog you applied for is not a good candidate to join your home. It doesn't mean anything other than this is not going to be a good arrangement. It isn't a commentary on your suitability for pet ownership. It is unfortunate, but it does happen. Please try to understand. We want what is best for the pups in our care and your family. We have seen dogs being given to homes where it is doomed from the get go and can end badly for all involved.

Step #6 - If all are in agreement, you and the foster home will set up a time and date for the adoption paperwork to be filled out. A copy of the adoption contract, medical records and any information to make the transition easier will accompany the pup in their folder. A class voucher will also be issued at that time to be used anytime within the first year from the date of adoption. You do still have to pre-register for the classes.

Step #7 - Party with your new pup!!
